Why do I need to use Sentrido Discovery?

The Sentrido Discovery client scans your network to identify connected devices and the communication ports they have open. It's crucial to understand which applications use your network and how it changes over time. This knowledge allows for detecting unexpected or unnecessary programs and monitors for any changes. Achieving network visibility is one of the fundamental pillars of maintaining baseline network security.

Step 1. Download the Installer

Download the Sentrido Discovery installer for Windows from the Sentrido Website. Your browser may prompt you to confirm or specify a location to save the file. Choose a suitable location on your device, then proceed with the download.

Step 2. Open and Run the Installer

Once the download is complete, open and run the Sentrido Discovery Installer. Your operating system might ask for confirmation to open the file (e.g., "This file was downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"). Click Open or Run to continue.

Click Open to run the Sentrido Discovery installer.

Step 3. Choose Installation Option

When the installer application appears, choose one of the two options:

Run Once: Perform a single scan immediately.
Run Periodically: Set a schedule to run scans regularly.

Note: You must read the License Agreement and check the box to accept the license agreement terms to continue.

Step 4. Run Sentrido Discovery client

Important Notice on Network Scanning

When using the Sentrido Discovery application to scan a local network, it is essential to ensure that you have the proper authorization to perform such scans.

Scanning networks without prior approval can result in violations of company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Unauthorized scanning may lead to disciplinary actions, fines, or other legal consequences.

Before using the Sentrido Discovery application, please confirm that you have the necessary permissions from your organization or the network owner.

Run Once

If you choose the Run Once option, the installer will download and launch an interactive scanner. This scanner will prompt you for your Sentrido login credentials, allowing it to scan your network and automatically upload the results to your account. If you prefer not to log in, you can select the Demo Mode to perform an anonymous scan and view the scan results for a limited time.

After you agree to the license agreement terms and click Next, the installer will download the Sentrido Discovery client application.

Click Run to open Sentrido Discovery.

Fill in your Sentrido login credentials and click Login to begin scanning your network.

If you don't have a Sentrido account, you can run a network scan without a Sentrido account and view the results in Demo Mode for a limited time. You can delete your scan results at any time.

Run Periodically

Note: This feature is only available to users with a registered Sentrido account.

We recommend running Sentrido Discovery at least once a week to monitor changes on your network. Choose the Run Periodically to create a Scheduled Task to run the application on your selected schedule. You can specify when Sentrido Discovery must run by clicking Edit Schedule.

After you agree to the license agreement terms and click Next, the installer will download the Sentrido Discovery client application.

Click Continue to provide your Sentrido login credentials.

Click Login to set up Sentrido Discovery to run on schedule.

Note: Windows User Account Control (UAC) may prompt you to allow the SentridoTaskRegisterHelper.exe application to make changes to your device. This application creates a scheduled task, which you can update, disable, or delete at any time using the Task Scheduler system application.

Click Finish to close the Sentrido Discovery installer. Sentrido Discovery will run based on your selected schedule. To scan your network immediately, launch Sentrido Discovery Installer from the Windows Start menu and select the Run Once option
