Sentrido Discovery Installer fails to install on Windows with an error

Symptom

Installation of the Sentrido Discovery ClickOnce application on Windows fails with an exception error "An exception occurred during a WebClient request. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."


The error message details are:



Reason

The error "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" happens when another instance of the Discovery Installer (SentridoClientApp.exe) is running.


Solution

End the SentridoClientApp process that is currently running on Windows. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Windows Task Manager

Under the Processes tab identify the Sentridoinstaller process.


Step 2: End the task

Click on the Sentridoinstaller task, and click on the End task button, or right click on the Sentridoinstaller task and chose End task from the menu. 


Conclusion

After completing the steps above the installation of Sentrido Discovery will complete without errors.
